The fractal process seems to work great now that I changed the parameters. I rendered some pictures but am too tired to post them today. I will do so tomorrow, I think the effect is great. It is working nearly exactly as I planned it, the general outline is clearly the same and it only ads variation to the terrain.
The biggest issue is only the general problem with terrain based on fBm, the parameters of it don't vary over bigger areas and so produce a true fractal. The defining property of a fractal is self similarity and that means, that you can basically find the same general form everywhere. That is true of nature only in part, because if you look at a mountain and at a shore of a small river you won't find many common forms. So the self similarity only applies to one object (a mountain or parts of it are similar to parts of itself) or to features of the same kind of terrain, two shores are likely to share some forms, as are two mountains.
After some months where I needed days to do my review of the previous month, this time at the 1st again. So let's see what I did in May. Review of MayGame DevelopmentThe game still isn't very much a game and still very much a work in progress. But at
